Friday Night

Friday night and doing nothing...always fun (There's just a hint of sarcasm there). But I did find out that we are indeed getting free access to ESPN Insider now, thanks to the issues they were having with Fantasy Baseball. And we get free entry into a prize-eligible fantasy football league, which is sweet, since I finished 2nd or 3rd in every league I played last year except the church one (Heck, one league I should've been undefeated and champion, except for the fact of a screwy scoring system that put absolutely no emphasis on defense (No points awarded for a freakin' shutout? COME ON! Not that I'm bitter or anything...).

There is absolutely nothing on television right now. The most interesting thing is on Disney Channel, and that's kind of sad (Although, admittedly, I am a sucker for Big Fat Liar...I know it's cheesy, but I enjoy it anyway). I was going to go get something like Smokin' Aces earlier...until I realized that it doesn't come out until Tuesday.

So I'm back to reading Harry Potter again. I already finished The Sorcerer's Stone, and now I'm on my way through The Chamber of Secrets (Not now as in right this very second, of course, but, you know...).

I've been able to get a little bit of the message for Wednesday night done. The Battle Within is going to be a really cool series, at least in my mind. Normally I would think that I don't want to get myself too overexcited about a series, but being that Love Addict was such a big hit and I'm putting as much effort into this series, maybe it's okay to expect big things.

Of course, it's always good to expect big things, isn't it? I went to lunch today with Ken and PK today, and Ken was talking about having lunch with the YP at Northridge and checking out their facilities...I've seen video of it before, it seems pretty cool, pretty big (Their youth auditorium fits 500). Honestly, I want to see our youth group go even bigger than that, because, as we were discussing, 500 sounds like a big youth group, but, when you think about it, that's barely 2% of the kids in their area. I want to see our youth group be able to reach hundreds of people, but I want the group to have a bigger impact than just filling seats (And I'm sure I can speak this for Ken too). Honestly, I'm okay with teaching 10 or 15 kids every week, as long as those 10 or 15 are affecting those around them in huge ways too. But I would also love to have a group so big that we have no choice but to move out of our little room and into a huge, arena-like area. I know that's an overly big thought, but there's nothing wrong with thinking big.

Spring Break=No Storm

It's weird...I've got nothing to do. No lesson to prep, no need to get up to the church at 5 tomorrow...nothing. There's no Storm tomorrow because the middle school and high schools are on spring break. Actually, there's no anything at the church tomorrow. It's kind of weird to not have to do anything this week.

That's okay, though, I can do some prep for the next series. We're doing a series leading up to the release of Spiderman 3 called The Battle Within. I think it's going to be really cool. This is one of the two series that I was most looking forward to teaching this year when I thought of it (The one I was most excited about is, consequently, the one the students seemed to have enjoyed the most thus far, Love Addict). It's going to be a really cool series. I picked out some of the cool scenes from Spiderman and Spiderman 2 to illustrate the points better. With the whole "3" theme, we're doing 3 weeks, each with 3 points about the specific topic. Week 1 is 3 Facts About The Battle Within, Week 2 is 3 Ways To Lose The Battle Within, and Week 3 is 3 Ways To Win The Battle Within. It should be a really cool one to teach, and I think the kids are going to enjoy it as well.

(At the very least, we'll have a big crowd for the first week, since we just finished up iLife and we still need to give away the iPod Nano!)
